Natalie's great adventures
Hi there. My name is Natalie. I'm a Marketing Management Professional turn Educator. I have been in travel and tourism for 20+ years. I spent 8 years as Marketing Manager for the Canadian Tourism Commission based in Vancouver, BC. Other exciting jobs I've had include Tour Managing in Europe and Scandinavia for Contiki Holidays, also managing the Chateau de Cruix in the Beaujolais region of France, also for Contiki. I did marketing and training for G.A.P Adventures (now G Adventures) based in Toronto and was responsibly for business development for Good Earth Travel Adventures during their expansion into BC.
I have dabbled in teaching through my life. I was a C.P.R & First Aid Instructor, and taught swimming and diving lessons while going to University in Montreal, QC. I taught ski lessons at Mont St Sauveur in the Laurentians, north of Montreal. As a tour manager, I imparted knowledge of the European countries to my clients. While at G.A.P Adventures, I trained staff on how to sell small group adventure trips to South & Central America. And now, as a new Mom, I teach my young son about the ways of the world.
In 2013 I started working on the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma Program. I am a sessional instructor at Douglas College in their Hospitality Management program, and I also work part-time in the Education Department at Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. I am hoping to take my extensive background in travel and tourism, combine with my love of nature and marry this with my passion for learning through doing. I think they call it "Environmental Education".
This blog will follow my journey, and be used as a resource center for research articles, interesting blogs, websites, and links.
